Stretching...

A long time ago I was having coffee with Abedib at Chinoz on the Park, KLCC. We were comparing notes about photography and I told him that the reason why I like my camera so much was because I could take potraits of my subject without them realising it.

This was a candid shot of a woman who sat in front of our table, who managed to hold her stretching pose long enough for me to take a shot.

isn't that a privacy issue - if you're taking pics of ppl without them realising it? I know I would be upset to know someone intentionally took a pic of me without asking first. A crowd pic is fine but when you focus on one specific person or a small group of ppl - then your intentions of the photo should prolly be clear to them..

but that's just me. :) I have no idea how others feel about this.

completely unrelated to my earlier comment (hehe) but what camera do you use? The photos you take are pretty impressive, lots of colour. The problem with my current cam is that with less light, the colour quality deteriorates :( so I want to upgrade..

taking pics and profiting from it is worst than taking a picture without them knowing.

consider the people living in rural communities who are not well off. ppl come and take pictures of them, put it into a book and live off the proceeds without giving anything back to the community.

Speaking of which, Wena, did you read about the pulitzer prize winning-photographer who caught the pic of the starving kid just inches away from a carrion (or vulture, I forget - carnivorous bird anyway). He took the pic and left the kid to crawl away looking for food. Eventually committed suicide (Carter not child). (http://home-4.tiscali.nl/~t892660/msp/time.htm)..

Um again slightly off topic. :)
