Familiar Sights in an Unfamiliar City
Pictures of Brunei on the second night of my trip. Somehow, for a split second, I felt as though I was home.
Pictures of Day One can be found here.

It is nice to see how Jawi is highly regarded in Brunei. Too bad in Malaysia Chinese Characters is the one on all the boards... It used to Called tanah melayu, then Malaya , then now Malaysia...will it be called Malachia in future?

[yamyam2] the full name of coffee bean, if you noticed from its logo is, the coffee bean and tea leaf, so the translation ia quite direct.
jawi in all business signboards in brunei is compulsory, no matter if its a non-halal restaurant or a shop selling incense for chinese funeral services. all jawi has to be requested to and passed by the dewan bahasa and pustaka before signboards can be put up.
i think our government in brunei has been quite active in trying to maintain the precense of jawi by holding jawi writings competions regularly through many religious schools here.
